Spectrum Detector announces award of the second phase of a NIST SBIR project.

Lake Oswego, July 15, 2009 - Spectrum Detector, Inc., a leading manufacturer of broadband, room temperature THz sensors and instruments, announced that they and research partner SRICO, Inc. have been awarded a Phase II NIST contract to develop large area, thin film, domain engineered Pyroelectric Detectors for the THz Gap. The project involves continued research into novel material processing techniques to create thin film LiTaO3 material and manufacturing techniques to handle and fabricate a variety of single and multiple channel THz sensors.

The basic goal of the project is to significantly enhance the performance of these LiTaO3 detectors to improve their capabilities in diagnostic test equipment for THz research and eventually to create multi element devices for a number of imaging applications.

SRICO, Inc. is a leading material research firm with considerable expertise in LiNO3 and LiTaO3 processing.
