These NEW analog and digital Pyroelectric TRAP Joulemeters set the standard for low uncertainty energy measurements of pulsed lasers or calibration of Energy Meters from DUV to Far IR.
Their unique design is based on the “wedge” TRAP concepts pioneered at NIST Boulder where they are used as Spectral Calibration Transfer standards. The TRAP consists of a large area Black Pyroelectric Detector opposite a large area broadband mirror in a 15 degree wedge configuration (see the optical schematic below). The wedge configuration is designed so that 99% of the light passing through the 5 mm aperture is absorbed and measured. This means the spectral response from 0.25 to 13 µm is flat to 1% or better. It’s useful spectral range is from 0.2 to 1000 µm.
We offer three Pyroelectric TRAP models as described below:
Model SPT-J-TRAP is a passive TRAP that is calibrated in V/J and is designed for use with your standard Oscilloscope (1 Mohm input). With a voltage responsivity of 100 V/J it can be used to measure from 50µJ to 5µJ.
Model SPT-AJ-TRAP is based on the SPJ-A-8 OB Analog Joulemeter where we’ve replaced the single Black Pyro element with our Wedge TRAP. We suggest you use this product with your standard Digital Oscilloscope. With a Voltage Responsivity of 3000 V/J, you can measure down to about 5 µJ.
Model SPT-DJ-TRAP is based on the SPJ-D-8 OB Digital USB Joulemeter. Measurement ranges are from 2 µJ to 2 mJ. Minimum resolution is 100 nJ. Convenient LabView Applications Software and LabView Drivers make this TRAP incredibly useful in the lab. It can be set-up in a single or dual channel configuration.
